INDIVISIBLE

2018: CONNECT ★ AFFECT ★ ELECT

Massachusetts conference November 12, 2017

Worcester State University

Indivisible is excited to announce our second state-wide conference coming up November 12th.

This conference is designed to help you up your activist game.  Coming one year after the disastrous election of 2016 and one year before the critical midterm election of 2018, this conference is focused on skills training, getting ready for the 2018 elections now, and how Massachusetts can enact policies in opposition to those of Trump. We are bringing together Indivisible members as well as those from allied groups to collaborate and network, as well as to teach practical activism skills.

e’ll help new activists find groups and resources; teach organizing basics. We'll offer seasoned activists in-depth leadership and strategy training as well as issue expertise.  Come learn practical ways to connect, affect and elect!

Preparations are underway, and we’ll keep you updated as the details become final. For now, we hope you’ll SAVE THE DATE Sunday, November 12th to come learn, meet your fellow Indivisibles, and build new networks.

This week from Indivisible:

The Trump Tax Scam is in full swing. Last week, the House passed a budget resolution to pave the way for Trump’s Tax Scam. They were followed shortly thereafter by the Senate Budget Committee, teeing up a full vote on the Senate floor later in October. Tax policy is complicated and wonky... and Republicans will try to rely on that to give their millionaire and billionaire friends the tax cuts they lobby so hard for. That’s why we wrote an explainer (think of it like Tax Policy 101) and call scripts so you have everything you need to put pressure on your MoCs to fight Trump’s Tax Scam!

Another weekend, another disastrous tweetstorm on North Korea. Last weekend, Trump took to Twitter to threaten North Korea this time tweeting that Rex Tillerson is “wasting his time” with diplomacy and that he’ll instead “do what needs to be done.” It’s a clear threat of war and Congress can’t let it slide. Use our explainer, talking points, and call scripts to encourage your MoC to speak out against Trump’s warmongering.

Next week: Trump is going to take us closer to war with Iran. Trump is expected to de-certify our deal with Iran that keeps them from obtaining a nuclear weapon, and keeps us out of war. If the deal falls apart, we’re headed to war with Iran, and another North Korea situation. Luckily, Congress can stop him, and we can win this. Use our recess toolkit to make sure Congress is paying attention NOW.
