Good News for the Gershon campaign!

From Long Island’s Newsday,

“The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee on Friday moved Democrat Perry Gershon's bid to unseat Rep. Lee Zeldin to its top tier of targeted races.

DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján cited Gershon's fundraising, campaign infrastructure and "deep ties to the community he aims to serve" in a statement announcing the move to the "Red-to-Blue Program," which includes 82 seats.

The DCCC said moving the race up will mean additional DCCC staff resources, candidate training and strategic guidance.

Gershon said his campaign has raised more than $1.25 million since July 1, with contributions averaging $85.

"I'm happy to see the national party has come to understand the momentum we have and recognize it," Gershon said Friday. "We know that this race is extremely competitive and there's tremendous Democratic energy."

… Lee Zeldin (R-Shirley) is seeking a third term. The 1st Congressional District historically been a swing district, shifting between Democratic and Republican control.”

Energetic members of AAC Team Mikie Sherrill attended a fundraiser for Mikie in Boston this past Monday. Unfortunately, Mikie’s plane was cancelled, so she wasn’t there in person. But she ‘attended’ via FaceTime.

Here’s what Nancy Train Smith had to say after their conversation with Mikie. “I’m so excited that Mikie is our adopted candidate! She is smart, accomplished, totally authentic. She’s stepping forward out of her already very busy life to serve our country. The character of our elected officials matters more than anything to me. If I know that someone is thoughtful and will act with the best interests of their constituents and the country, I will support them. I believe that Mikie Sherrill is a woman of great integrity and I am an enthusiastic supporter!”

Members of Team Mikie will be in New Jersey September 24 - 27 to help her campaign.
Go Team!
