Congressman Keating has served as a U.S. Representative from Massachusetts since 2011. He is a
Democrat, representing the state’s 9th district, which includes Westport, Dartmouth, New Bedford,
Fairhaven and parts of Fall River, as well as the South Shore, Middleborough, Cape Cod and the
Islands. "I'm looking forward to this opportunity to meet the members of Marching Forward, share an update on the current state of affairs in Washington, and learn from them about which issues are on
their minds", Keating said.
Marching Forward, a community group of more than 400 members, formed in January, 2017 in response
to the 2016 presidential election and has been active and growing ever since. Marching Forward
convenes community meetings about areas of collective concern. Its’ Huddle groups on Healthcare,
Political Action, Environment, Immigration, and Protecting Legitimate Journalism provide specific
platforms for action and discussion. Says Pattie Garrahy, one of the group’s founders, “As the 2018
elections approach, we plan to build a strong voter registration effort, and to be informed about
regional candidates for office as well as national candidates and issues. To that end it’s important to
know our representatives, their voting records and positions. We are delighted to host U.S.
Congressman Bill Keating for an evening of active dialogue. We hope you will join us for this meeting
before our Members of Congress head back to Washington.”
Moderated by Shannon Jenkins and Doug Roscoe, political science professors at the University of Massachusetts.
